The majority of problems with Electric Fences are associated with poor contact between the earth rod and the ground.
A chemical reaction is always present between metal and the ground resulting in oxidisation (rusting) of the metal. This rust is a poor conductor of electricity and will reduce the effectiveness of your electric fence. Larger energizers will require more than one earth stake that, if possible, should be located in a permanently wet patch of soil.
Do not connect to a homestead earth or position an earth within 3 meters of one.

Lightning Diverter~Protects the energizer from lightning strikes on the fence line. Very important where mains units are sited within fire-risk buildings, barns, hay sheds. Likely to be a legal requirement in the future.~Protects the energizer from lightning strikes and power surges.
