Maximise ground contact with quality Electric Fencing Earth rods

  • A good earth is essential for a well installed and effective Electric Fence. It is 50% of the circuit and where 85% of all problems originate.
  • The heavy "T" Bar construction is made of robust, hot dipped galvanised steel to last a long time and provide a large surface contact area between the rod and ground for the best possible transfer of energy.
  • There is always going to be a chemical reaction taking place between metal and soil resulting resulting rust - a bad conductor. These stakes are all Galvanised to extend their life. The Effect of Rust on an Earth-stake.
  • The greater the surface area between the earth stake and the ground the better particularly in dry or sandy soils. Try and seek out the wettest soil to drive in your earth stake, dripping tap, wet flower bed or stream bed.
  • Check by shorting the fence to ground and test between the ground and the stake, if you feel a tingle or over 200v - add an earth stake.
  • Remember, legally the earth post must be more than 3m(10ft) away from any national grid earthing system
