POSTS may be plastic, wood or metal.

Plastic posts normally come in a variety of heights from 75cm to 168cm. They have cradles at spaces suitable for most operations and no further insulators are required. They are available in white or green. They may be used in temporary or permanent fences in the straight portion of the fence; they are not suitable for corners or ends. They are light, portable, durable and ideal for splitting paddocks and are easy to push in the ground. Better quality posts are have more plastic component and are offered with a warranty.

Wood posts are suited for permanent fences. They are ideal to strengthen a plastic post system, using them for corner, intermediate and end posts. They require insulators suited to the type of fence you are using.

Metal posts are seldom used now as the plastic ones are taking over. Normally used in Agriculture and require specific insulators.

On average posts need to be placed 5-7 metres apart, this can be increased with higher tensioned fence lines.
